Our head instructor, Franck, has nearly 25 years of training in Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and a diverse martial arts background, including Krav Maga, Judo, and BJJ. His open mind and emphasis on critical thinking ensures a well rounded approach to self-defence and martial arts catered to each individual student.

2025 Terms:

  • Term 1: 5th of February to 9th of April (10 weeks, $240)
  • Term 2: 21st of May to 2nd of July (7 weeks, $168)

No annual fee. No commitment. Fee must be paid before term starts.

Absolutely! Your first session at Sydney Jitsu is on us. It's a great opportunity for you to experience our training firsthand and see if it's the right fit for you.


For your trial session, no equipment is needed. Once you decide to join, you'll need a mouth guard and uniform. Don't worry, we can assist you in sourcing these items.


Wear any clothes you feel comfortable in, but we recommend pants and a long-sleeve t-shirt. Don't forget to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during the session.


Not at all! Our training is tailored to accommodate individuals of all skill levels, whether you're a complete beginner or have previous martial arts experience. We're here to support your growth and progress at your own pace.


Japanese Jiu-Jitsu is a comprehensive martial art that encompasses striking, throws, joint locks, and ground work. It focuses on self-defence techniques applicable to real-life situations. We pride ourselves on teaching a holistic approach to combat that sets Japanese Jiu-Jitsu apart from other martial arts.


While both martial arts share common roots, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu have distinct focuses. Japanese Jiu-Jitsu encompasses a wide range of techniques including strikes, throws, joint locks, and ground work, with a strong emphasis on practical self-defence scenarios. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu primarily concentrates on ground fighting and submissions. Japanese Jiu-Jitsu's training approach and techniques are specifically designed to equip practitioners with effective self-defence skills applicable in real-life situations.
